MUST-HAVE TAILGATING GEAR

Tailgating before or after a football game has indeed become an American tradition. Usually held two or three hours before the game begins,it adds to the vibrant atmosphere of the total football event. Everyone is optimistic that their team will win. The term, tailgating was coined back in 1957 when a wife of a team doctor, opened the tailgate on her station wagon and had sandwiches and lunch items for her children and friends. When a reporter announced that she was having a car picnic for them, she replied with “it is more of a tailgate party”.

So, what are the things to consider  if you plan to host a tailgate party? Here are some guide to help you out.

1.       Plan ahead. Party equates to good food. Like any other party, preparing a menu and a list of the items you need will help to be sure that everything is loaded before leaving home. Choice of food can be as simple as hot dogs, hamburgers, or BBQ. Its also nice to add some side dishes and desserts. Don’t forget to have a cooler full of various drinks.

2.       Bring in must-have tailgating gears. As an outdoor event, it is important to have with you items such as BBQ grills, camp chairs, party blankets or tables. Also, trash bags, sun block, napkins, utensils, plates, glasses and ice could be some of the most essential tailgate items. Another essential tailgating gear is a first aid kit. Rain wears and flashlights can be brought as well.

3.       Arrive at least three hours early at the game site. This way, you can find the perfect parking spot. A good place would be in a grassy area and at the end of a line.Stay at least one hour after the game.

4.       Wear your favorite team colors or tailgate gear. Some people prefer to be dressed in their favorite football gears as a sign of identity or merely for fun. Others decorate their tents, campers, or cars with logs and flags to be easily spotted by friends.
